On September 6, 2020, the Chicago White Sox visited the Kansas City Royals at Kauffman Stadium. Dallas Keuchel went for the White Sox, while Matt Harvey went for the Royals.
Yolmer Sanchez led off the top of the third. With the count full, HARVEY HELD THIS BALL IN HIS HAND!! He threw a 91.8 mph four-seam fastball, and SANCHEZ RIPPED THIS BALL 313 FEET FOR A DOUBLE (HIS 111th CAREER DOUBLE by my count) TO BUBBA STARLING!! Harvey got this ball back.
Tim Anderson walked to the plate. Harvey threw a slider that Anderson swung at and missed. (Yes, that means Cam Gallagher also touched this ball!) Harvey came back with a curveball for a ball. Harvey threw another slider, and ANDERSON LAUNCHED THIS BALL 351 FEET, WHERE EDWARD OLIVARES CAUGHT IT FOR THE FIRST OUT!! Sanchez moved to third. Harvey got this ball back.
Yasmani Grandal came to bat. Harvey threw a 94.9 mph four-seam fastball for a called strike. He threw another four-seamer, and GRANDAL SMACKED THIS BALL TO OLIVARES FOR A SINGLE (HIS 700th HIT by my count) THAT SCORED SANCHEZ FOR THE FIRST RUN OF THE GAME!! Harvey got this ball back.
There was a mound visit. Harvey got pulled. Tyler Zuber replaced Harvey and got this ball. (Zuber probably used this ball to warm up, although that’s not part of the MLB Authentication.)
José Abreu came to bat. ZUBER WALKED ABREU ON FOUR PITCHES WITH THIS BALL!! Zuber got this ball back.
Edwin Encarnacion batted next. Zuber threw two balls with this ball. There was another mound visit. Zuber then threw a 95.9 mph!! fastball, and ENCARNACION POPPED THIS BALL UP TO ADALBERTO MONDESI (although technically Encarnacion was out on the infield-fly rule). THIS BALL WAS FINALLY RETIRED!! Eloy Jimenez ended the half inning on the next pitch by flying out to Olivares. The White Sox went on to win the game 8-2.
This ball is MLB Authenticated for 13 pitches to five batters (Sanchez, Anderson, Grandal, Abreu, and Encarnacion) by two pitchers (Harvey and Zuber), including Sanchez’s double and Grandal’s RBI double — not to mention two mound visits!! Please note that this ball does not come with a case. Thank you for purchasing!!
